CURRENT ISSUE

ISSUE 84

In this issue of Monument we review new educational buildings plus design graduates across industrial and graphic design, textiles, jewellery and ceramics. We report on Portugal’s Krv Kurva design studio, which is bringing new hope and skills to women in prison, and present a photo essay of Zaha Hadid’s breathtaking new Norpark Railway in Innsbruck. We talk to Sydney-based artist Jasper Knight and profile Tokyo-based designer Tokujin Yoshioka, whose displays at Milan and Miami using millions of drinking straws have won him world-wide acclaim. On the cover of this issue of Monument, is Yoshioka’s Honey-Pop chair; it is not his latest design, in fact it is several years old, but it is well ahead of its time.
